How to download your Discover statements

OFX / QFXOFX/QFX (recommended). PDF statements exist but Pare can't parse them.

Discover offers transaction downloads including a Quicken format. Use that rather than the statement PDF.

Steps

  1. 01Sign in at discover.com and open the account.
  2. 02Go to Statements / Activity and choose Download transactions.
  3. 03Pick Quicken (.qfx) rather than CSV or Excel.
  4. 04Drop the .qfx into Pare.
Go to Discover login โ†—

Worth knowing

Discover's downloads are organised per statement period, so grabbing a year means several files. Import them all โ€” duplicates across overlapping files are handled.

What Pare does with it

Drop the file into Pare and it parses the transactions locally, categorises them, and builds spending trends, budgets and a cash-flow forecast. Uploaded PDFs are deleted the moment they're parsed, and Pare never asks for your bank login. You can also self-host it so the data never leaves your machine.
